DESCRIPTION
Responsible for applying principles and techniques of computer science and mathematical analysis in order to analyze user needs and research, design, and develop software solutions: responsible for requirement gathering from product and system management and translate that to technical requirements. Program data modeling and use internal tools to transform them into canonical types. Develop and maintain ingestion processes. Develop and maintain data extraction and load processes. Speed up our processing pipeline using in memory Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDD) databases. Program API services which generate global-ids. Brainstorm ideas to potentially store all the world's video, sports, and music data in an entertainment graph. Operate and scale our infrastructure. Tools and technologies used: Java, Scala, Map Reduce, Apache Hadoop, and Apache Spark, Amazon web service, grafana and pagerDuty. May work from home from any location in the U.S. or from any Nielsen office in the U.S.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, or a related field (foreign equivalent degree acceptable), plus 5 years of experience in software development. (Would alternatively accept a Master's degree plus 3 years of experience in software development). Prior experience must include (3) years in/with: Java or Scala development. Prior experience must include (2) years in/with: SQL; software development with data flows; data architecture, ETL and processing of structured and unstructured data; and cloud computing services such as Amazon Web Service. Prior experience must include one (1) year in/with: real time streaming tools such as Kafka; monitoring tools, grafana and pagerDuty. Salary:$169,229 - $225,000/year, M-F, 40 hours/week. May work from home from any location in the U.S. or from any Nielsen office in the U.S.
