Job Description Summary
The Lead Quality Specialist supports Engineering projects by assuring that the projects allocated to them follow their agreed and approved engineering plans.
As the eyes and ears of the customer, the Lead Quality Specialist, in conjunction with projects, develops the quality assurance plan, and then, by means of audits and reviews, helps the project demonstrate compliance as they deliver for their customers in accordance with customer requirements and the applicable regulatory standards.
Committed to continuous improvement, the Development Quality Department requires its quality engineers to identify, develop, plan, and execute on quality process improvement in support of Engineering projects.
Job Description
Support the Quality Assurance Manager on assigned projects to achieve process assurance to programme and budget.
Develop and maintain the Project Specific Quality Assurance Plan against an agreed Basis of Estimate (BoE).
Monitor and control the DQA budget against the agreed BoE and Project Specific Quality Assurance Plan informing project of budgetary spend against achievements.
Conduct timely DQA activities as detailed within the Project Specific Quality Assurance Plan, including auditing, document reviews, test oversight, attending reviews etc; raising DQA records and process Non-Compliance (NCs) where and when appropriate.
Provide status reporting to project and the DQA team.
Establish and maintain communication with the engineering project team, project management and customer to ensure the voice of DQA is heard, while resolved any DQA issues in a timely manner.
Broadening knowledge of standards, practices and procedures in own discipline to execute functional policy/strategy; still developing functional knowledge and skills.
Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
Has autonomy to plan and manage DQA activities and make decisions within a defined framework while highlighting any need for assistance as and when required. Resolves issues in situations that require good knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined policy/parameters.
Requires good written and verbal interpersonal skills. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains DQA activities and responsibilities to others.
Support and facilitate project improvement initiatives.
Activity support, facilitate and promote improvement initiatives within the DQA team.
Required Qualifications
This role requires basic experience in quality & QA Engineering.
Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience)
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to document, plan and execute programs within an agreed budget and timescales.
Ability to support at least 50% of work time on-site on a weekly basis.
