Our team is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Postgres DBA (Database Administrator) at the L3 level. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our EDB PPAS database infrastructure, working closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise and guidance. Your deep knowledge of Postgres, strong troubleshooting abilities, and ability to handle complex database operations will ensure our PPAS database systems' availability, performance, and security. As a senior-level Postgres DBA L3, you will also be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and optimizing the PostgreSQL/Enterprise DB PPAS database that supports our Cloud application. You will collaborate with DBAs, development, architecture, and infrastructure teams to design and administer databases that meet contractual SLAs.
Responsibilities:
Database Administration: Perform day-to-day administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of Postgres database systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize query performance, and fine-tune database configurations to enhance system efficiency.
Capacity Planning: Monitor database capacity and usage trends, forecast future requirements, and implement capacity planning strategies to optimize scalability and resource.
Data Modeling: Collaborate with development teams to design and implement effective data models, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for Postgres databases, ensuring data protection and disaster recovery readiness.
Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, authentication, and encryption, to ensure data confidentiality and compliance with industry standards.
Database Upgrades and Migrations: Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and version migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth transitions.
Incident Management: Investigate and resolve complex database-related incidents and problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline database administration tasks, improve efficiency, and minimize manual intervention
Qualifications
BE/ B. Tech/ MCA or equivalent experience in Computer Science.
5-8 years of experience working as a Postgres DBA with expertise supporting Cloud customer-facing production environments.
Experience managing 24x7 production support.
Strong knowledge of UNIX/LINUX platforms.
Must be able to manage time effectively and deliver on commitments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must be able to operate well in a team environment and when under pressure.
Knowledge of Java platforms and middleware is plus (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, etc.)
Must have knowledge of PostgreSQL/Enterprise DB PPAS.
Knowledge on CloudSQ/Mysql and Astra will be added advantage.
Knowledge of Enterprise Failover Manager (EFM) is added advantage.
Relevant certifications, such as Google Cloud/EDB Certified PPAS Administrator, are a plus.
Must have knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Shell scripting.
Familiarity with cloud-based database services such as Google Cloud Platform.
