Salesforce is seeking a Frontend/UI Performance Engineer to join the Commerce Cloud Performance Team
The Commerce Cloud Performance Engineering team is looking for an extremely talented Javascript engineer with the technical savvy to find and fix UI performance problems across web and mobile devices.
You are an amazing developer, for whom performance is your first thought, never an afterthought. How fast is that feature? How can we slim down our pages? Why are we slow on Firefox but not Chrome? How are we doing against our competitors? How does network latency impact the end-user experience?
You know one or more, or maybe even all, of the major JS frameworks like React, Vue, Angular, Ember, etc. You are a contributor, or would be if you had the time.
You will have a significant and measurable positive impact on how we deliver web and native experiences to our customers, and their customers. You will be working with a group of world-class engineers to build the breakthrough features our customers will love, adopt and use, while keeping our trusted platform stable and scalable.

Your Background:
While many of our engineers have a performance engineering background, candidates with a strong web or mobile development background, heavy React and other SPA programming experience, and an interest in both performance and tooling are strongly encouraged to apply. We have no preconceptions about who makes a great performance engineer, but you're definitely a problem-solver who loves a challenge, and you enjoy the big picture as well as the nitty gritty details.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze, understand, and improve Commerce Cloud's UI performance
• Contribute to a new world class UI framework, helping to make it the fastest SPA framework on the market
• Use in-house and open-source tools to measure and visualize site performance
• Contribute to our in-house performance tools/dashboards (built in node.js and React)
• Maintain and enhance our UI test framework (using Selenium, Puppeteer)
• Work with engineering teams within an agile process, helping them to write frontend tests for new and existing features
• Report weekly trends highlighting product performance and team status against committed SLAs, milestones and projects
Job Requirements:
• BS in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)
• JavaScript (expert)
• You love solving problems and making a difference
• 8+ years software development experience, or
• 8+ years of performance analysis and measurement of technically challenging applications
• Experience with Selenium and Selenium Grid
• Experience with Lighthouse, Chrome devtools, Charles, WebpageTest etc.
• Experience with Ruby/Rails or Python/Django or similar is a big plus
• Linux, Java, C#, C++ or other OOP language
• Working knowledge of operating system design / tuning (e.g. Linux, Windows )
• Ability to analyze / interpret technical data
• Ability to identify / resolve system bottlenecks
• Ability to identify potential limitations in software architectures
• Ability to write clear and concise technical documents
• Troubleshooting and reasoning skills
• Understanding of throughput, latency, memory and CPU utilization
• Working knowledge of open-source HTTP load generation /measurement software (e.g. JMeter)
