What you'll do:
This role of Lead Engineer in Polymer nanocomposite will be part of Center for Materials and Manufacturing research group of Eaton Reasearch Lab. This role is focused on developing sustainable materials and manufacturing technologies to help Eaton meet its sustainability goals. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research and developing technologies to provide materials and manufacturing solutions for Eaton's products.
"Primary responsibilities
In this role you will
- Identify Materials and Mfg. process technology gaps and propose solutions on maturing new technologies with high performance materials relevant to next generation technology strategy such as electrification, sustainability, Hydrogen Economy, Advanced manufacturing etc.
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively with R&D team, product engineering, manufacturing, marketing and business units, globally and cross functional team to deliver on technical concepts and capabilities to drive business growth.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend combined material, design, and manufacturing processes that best meet the application requirements.
- Develop the external ecosystem for developing new class of materials and its scale up
- Coordinate with toll compounders, injection molders and polymer manufacturers to ensure high part quality and reliability.
- Use program management skills and practices to coordinate activities with other engineering resources, cross functional teams, external partners, and ecosystem to ensure timely completion of the project milestones utilizing internal project execution processes, including Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Technical Reviews.
- Build network with universities around the world to accelerate low TRL technology development in polymers and sustainable materials aligning with Eaton strategy
- Actively contribute high quality IP that has business and technology importance.
Other responsibilities
- Work with technology managers to shape up the proposals for waterlining process
- Responsible for developing and securing funding for right research program portfolio in polymer domain
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Represent ERL on various internal and external technical forums
- Participate and present in internal innovation and ideation events. "
Qualifications:
Masters / Phd in material science - polymer technology
"Masters with 7+ years of relevant experience in research and development or
PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience in research and development"
