Here, you will make an impact by:Playing a crucial role in defining standard processes, governance, and tools to accelerate implementation of physical automation solutions across 3M's global manufacturing network.Developing and testing automation solutions leveraging technologies such as Robotics, computer vision, and other industrial automation and software technologies.Act as SME (Mechanical/EE/Controls/Robotics), reviewer, approver, and mentor for other engineering teams and vendors.Sourcing/co-developing solutions with our strategic vendors, doing R&D work to create innovative material handling and process automation solutions.Facilitate complex problem-solving skills, enhance collaboration across functional groups, and support development efforts for current manufacturing hardware and new system development.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (completed and verified prior to start)Seven (7) years of experience in application of robotics and automation in manufacturing / production environments in a private, public, government, or military environmentAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Expertise in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, FEA simulation, GD&T, and design for excellence concepts (e.g., DFM, DFA, DFT, DFS).Proficiency with electromechanical/mechatronic systems.Excellent communication, presentation, and demonstration skills.Strong understanding of fabrication methods including machining, sheet metal, rapid prototyping, and injection molding.Ability to use project management tools to plan projects.Experience with Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Universal or other industrial/collaborative robotic arms.Working knowledge of machinery related compliance requirements and safety standards.
