Lead Architect Shell Energy Americas

This Lead Architect role sits within the Architecture & Data organisation, in the Shell Energy domain, and is responsible for the IT architecture for Shell Energy in the Americas region.
What’s the role?
The Lead Architect Shell Energy Americas exhibits a product mindset, deep technology experience with good balance of problem solving, solutioning with logical thinking, and is delivery focused. This role is the single point of technology accountability to Business IT and has end to end accountability for technology strategy and delivery of digital products for the Shell Energy Americas B2B and B2C power retail business. This role works closely with Business and IT stakeholders to define the technology strategy for various business capabilities while ensuring that technology delivery is performed with high quality.
Accountabilities
Build, nurture and grow high performance engineering teams using Agile Engineering principles.
Act as a technical leader sharing own experience, insights, and energy, adopting a hands-on approach where needed.
Set technical agenda for digital products closely with business Product Owner and Product Manager.
Solution consulting and development in accordance with modern cloud-native software engineering principles, methods, standards, and practices. Contribution to software engineering discipline by bringing the latest in the market to the enterprise, continually updating standards, methods and tools.
Managing complex integration scenarios between on-premises legacy solutions, private and public cloud environments.
Work in partnership with various Shell Energy portfolio companies, which will present further technical integration challenges and opportunities.
Work in partnership with global Shell architecture to ensure reuse and alignment of capabilities across the regions.
Build out an earliest testable product quickly, to prove the tech stack and test customer product offerings.
Integrate platforms to the wider Shell landscape and manage vendors to implement a scalable, replicable architecture and tech stack.
Ensure compliance to the Shell control framework and that security and compliance risks are managed, tracked, and addressed promptly.
Create an environment and culture that attracts top talent and promotes teamwork internally and externally to enable greater collaboration.
What we need from you?
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Minimum ten (10) years' relevant work experience.
Have a proven track record of digital impact and success.
Bachelor’s Degree is a must.
Be able to create a product and engineering environment that attracts and retains the best talent.
Proven experience in building complex landscapes comprising of SaaS and home-grown cloud-native apps on either or both Azure & AWS cloud platforms.
Worked in an API-first approach and expert in ensuring maximum reusability of APIs.
Knowledge of and skilled in various programming languages, frameworks and cloud technologies with the ability to be hands-on where needed.
Thought leader that can drive a data-driven approach using data science techniques to develop valuation models and other insights that help customers and businesses alike.
Able to explain and apply key architecture patterns adopted in industry.
Ability to work in virtual teams, across time, geographical, and cultural boundaries.
Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
