About the Role
In this opportunity as Latin America Editor, Reuters Video, you will:
Lead the video operation across Latin America. Have strong leadership skills and an interest in developing staff.Ensure our teams are positioned to deliver high-quality video at speed to all Reuters customers.Ensure Latin America is aligned with our visuals strategy, specifically with a view to broadcast and digital video clients and multimedia.Work with colleagues from text and pictures to help create a truly unified newsgathering team.Ensure that multimedia work across the region becomes part of our bureaus' day to day planning coordination and coverage.Ensure all recruitment decisions are aligned with our strategic plan for video and with a strong focus on diversity.Bring a diversity of voices and perspectives to both our teams and the people we speak to in our stories.Lead your team to new heights with excellent performance management skills.Be an experienced manager, confident in leading teams across multiple bureaus, with the tools to engage and inspire both in person and virtually. You will be confident in juggling a busy newsfile, managerial responsibilities, yours and your team's wellbeing.Develop and guide the longer-term strategy for covering Latin America. Be in charge of the team building. This is a critical part of the job, and you will be a strong people person, committed to developing your staff.
About You
You're a fit for this role if your background includes:
Bachelor's degreeSenior editorial experience in agency and/or broadcast newsgathering and production. Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate local and remote teams. The ability to deliver breaking news fast, and feature coverage that engages. A deep understanding of the digital landscape and the needs of Reuters customers.Experience of managing teams in hostile environments.A thorough understanding of the latest visual technologies. A desire to work cooperatively with text and pictures colleagues to deliver the best file possible.Ability to drive speed and accuracy.Fluent Spanish as well as native-level written and spoken English. Fluent Portuguese also desired. An unwavering commitment to accurate, impartial reporting.
This job will give you responsibility for the day-to-day direction of our newsfile, with a large team of staff and stringers.
