T2 – Laboratory Technician
We are looking to recruit a candidate on a permanent, full-time basis to work within the local team to provide operational and continuous improvement skills to deliver the laboratory needs for the department to deliver and continuously improve on safety, cost, quality, and service targets. Demonstrate flexibility and implementation of skills, developing and utilising World Class Supply Chain processes to contribute to delivering World Class standards of operations within the work-team and Burton Brewery. Develop others, build capability, and continuously improve through the sharing of knowledge and skills, as well as being a willing recipient of new skills to grow overall team competence and flexibility.
Your Purpose
To carry out Laboratory Analysis in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Operate and continuously improve departmental control systems (e.g. safety, quality, environment, cost) in the interest of achieving the highest standards of operations and supporting effective communication in the department and across Burton Brewery, internal and external customers, and suppliers.
Take responsibility for auditing and monitoring standards. Highlight issues and take ownership of 'close-out' actions. Maintain equipment and work area in optimum condition by performing autonomous maintenance and 5S tasks during the normal course of operations.
Share responsibility for the sustainability of maintenance performance across the department and site to ensure optimum performance and World Class standards.
Work within all local hygiene, health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice, including, and not limited to; HACCP, COSHH, BRC, FEMAS, Safety the Molson Coors way and maintain personal legislative training compliance. Continuously review practices, process, and operations to identify opportunities to improve standards. Work with colleagues and peers to develop these improvements and embed into day-to-day operations. Monitor and record trends in quality and hygiene outputs. Continuously improve performance - Productivity, Cost, Delivery, Quality, Environment, Morale, Safety, PCDQEMS - taking responsibility for the implementation and execution of key World Class Supply Chain activities.
Improve process and/or operational capability by leading problem-solving tools and techniques, carrying out root cause analysis to determine cause of problems with the overall objective of improving department and site KPIs. Initiate, monitor and utilise trend analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of problem-solving activities and sustainability of solutions. Take responsibility for auditing to improve performance and monitoring best practice in World Class Supply Chain elements across the team, department, and site.
Own and drive metrics, sharing responsibility for planning and execution of work to achieve defined schedules, ensuring all product quality, cost and customer service targets are achieved by the team. Monitor and record changes to plan and engage in activity to improve.
Review and continuously improve performance management standards and systems while actively engaging with communication processes to share outputs with colleagues, peers, and management groups. Actively participate in routine meeting. Maintain and improve data scheduling and data collection systems, including variance investigation and system improvements. Work in a flexible way to support other functions such as microbiology, analytical chemistry and sensory.

Experience working in an appropriate lab environment in a food/drink manufacturing environment, leaning towards a microbiological focus.
Effectively communicate with teams on other shifts through logbooks and daily handover meetings.
Able to facilitate meetings and team-based project groups.
Able to plan, co-ordinate and improve work done by the team, as a member of that team. Within agreed timescale achieve WCSC validation
Working knowledge of SAP.
