Description:
Receiving, labeling and analyzing samples. Designing and executing laboratory testing according standard procedures. Conducting experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods. Undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. Performs technical duties, including manufacturing, modifying, and issuing blood products as per standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP). Performs clerical duties including specimen accessioning, inventory, record keeping, and telephone communication. Performs all duties in compliance with the Department of Transfusion Medicine’s quality system and follows all state and federal regulations and standards provided by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), AABB, and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Receives and manufactures blood products. • Performs preventive maintenance and quality control. • Prepares blood products and performs product modifications per transfusion order requirements. • Receives and accessions specimen and orders. • Issues blood products for transfusion. • Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Provides routine information and takes messages when necessary. • Performs blood product and laboratory supply inventories. Orders laboratory supplies to maintain adequate supply inventory levels. • Maintains files and records. • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
