Specimen Accessioning/Triage: Receives, accepts and recognizes specimens from in house and outreach. Checks for proper identification, transport, condition and type of fixative. Logs specimens in computer system. Ensures that the requested procedures are performed. Documents and clarify specimen discrepancies with the Operating Room or Surgeon.
Frozen Sections: Accurately assigns accessioning number to specimen and announces frozen sections promptly.
Telephone: Answers the phone on or before the 4 th or 5 th ring.
Consultation slides: Accepts and accessions accurately.
Organizational skills: Maintains the work area in a clean, organized fashion with all records easy to access.
Maintaining of supplies: Informs the manager or supervisor when to order Pathology forms, specimen cards, markers and other office items needed.
Filing and maintaining records: Files copies of specimens and non-specimens requisitions. Checks copy of MEETH book for specimens received daily.
Safety procedures: Demonstrates correct safety practices. Recognizes and corrects situations related to job safety. Demonstrates the proper handling of chemicals and biohazards materials. Uses proper personal equipment material as required
Operates applicable computer systems.
Performs related duties, as required.

The salary range for this position is $21.69-$21.69/hour
