Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
Manage, organize, and supervise all aspects of teaching and research laboratory support. Maintenance of chemicals, laboratories and instrumentation.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities
Procurement of materials related to teaching and research such as purchase of glasswareand chemicals, proper storage and inventory of instruments. 15%
Support research grant proposal submission and follow up, help to maintainresearch/teaching instrumentation. 15%
Support departmental computer systems and shared instrumentation. 10%
Supervise personnel providing chemistry/biochemistry laboratory services. 10%
Provide training and guidance in work responsibilities; plan, assign, and direct work;
reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems. 10%
Help prepare payroll budget authorizations; retrieve, track, and approve timesheets forlaboratory employees.10%
Establish and enforce proper disposal of materials, instruments, and sensitive documents. 10%
Solve problems related to daily laboratory management. 10%
Coordinate inter-departmental and inter-college laboratory activities.5%
Attend Chemistry and Biochemistry department meetings as requested by the
department Chair.5%

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors in chemistry or related science
Experience in coordinating and supervising others
Experience with laboratory management
Experience with managing projects and/or budgets
Must have good customer relations or student services skills
Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Able to work independently to solve problems and to meet deadlines
