Handly Raw Materials - Performs functions within the team that manually or with use of mechanical filler transfers and/or fills finished good units in the production area of the Demi-Grand Clark and/or in Flex Lab area of R&I Clark facility while maintaining accurate recordkeeping and following all applicable Safety/Quality requirements. Under general supervision oversee the flow of materials, consumables, and chemicals, as well as repackaging of them for distribution in the labs on campus. Duties include maintenance of inventory, restocking, transfer of the materials, as well as the chemical waste management.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for performing all filling functions to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to defined standard as defined in Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions in the Demi Grand (within Demi Grand, as well as in the labs under Demi Grand direction, as needed).
Support filling activities in Flex Lab of Clark NJ campus for small scale fill requests into various packaging components using manual and table-top equipment.
Utilize scales for precision mass fill of various sizes.
Inspect product and package quality during the filling run and adjust parameters and/or machine components as needed during the operation (fill weight, speed, temperatures, etc)
Work in sanitary manner to ensure product quality and utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (including a half face or a full-face respirator)
Work efficiently and use designated chemical solutions to clean and sanitize all parts and tools used during the run as defined by the cleaning procedures.
Maintain accurate recordkeeping for each production run to document all aspect of the manufacturing process, to include line surveillance quality checks during production.
Submit all the necessary samples to the analytical and microbiology labs as needed.
Perform releases in inventory management system after all approvals and testing is completed and results are confirming.
Communicate with chemists/labs regarding open filling requests to provide status and clarify any open issues.
Package the products according to the distribution list specified in the request.
Repackage chemicals for distribution in the lab and maintain all records of the transaction in the inventory management system to assure accuracy.
Maintain accurate inventory of all storage areas for materials managed by lab logistics, order, and re-stock the materials as needed.
Do physical inventory when needed.
Interface effectively with customers to answer questions and solve problems.
Participate in root cause analysis of any product quality non-conformances in the area.
Maintain excellent housekeeping in all areas.
Adhere to all Quality and Safety rules and actively participates in safety improvement programs.
Cross trained in other aspects of Demi Grand operations (preweigh, transfers, reception and warehouse, to assist as needed)
Other duties as assigned by Management/Supervisor of the area.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Computer literate (Email, Microsoft Word and Excel, basic skills)
Reads, writes and speaks English (important in reading chemical information from SDS)
Ability to interact and communicate effectively
Familiar with metric system of weights
Must be detailed oriented
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a team setting
Must be able to wear a respirator
Ability to lift 35 lbs. and use specialized equipment to infrequently move material up to 200kg
Must be able to regularly walk and stand for duration of shift (with breaks)
