The Audio Technology team at WBD Sports is responsible for designing, building, configuring and maintaining all the audio production systems at our offices throughout EMEA. As we run a state of the art IP based systems throughout the region we are looking for an experienced production/project audio system engineer to assist with project design & delivery.
Teams based both in London and Paris manage the engineering and support of this new technology platform covering two playout centers as well as eighteen production sites in Europe.

Job brief
As a level 3 audio system engineer, you will mainly be working on Eurosport products. The brand recently transitioned to a new technology platform for all Europe, based on a hybrid architecture combining on-premise and cloud-based solutions for production and transmission (playout).
In this role, you should be a first-class media technologist and an excellent communicator who is able to translate strategic direction with complex requirements into functional and supportable systems.
Your goal will be to ensure the Audio systems within our Live media technology are operationally functional, easily supportable, efficient and have long term sustainability.
Audio System Engineer core Responsibilities :
Technical design, implementation and support of live audio production systems related to program mixing, commentary mixing (localization),Technical design, implementation and support of WBD Sports intercom systems (On premise and Cloud),Technical design and implementation of audio production and transport solutions for specific events: Olympics, onsite commentary, etc - in close collaboration with Production and engineering teams,Technical design, implementation and support on hardware and software editing, mixing, syncing or any post-production tools and software's,Ensure audio delivery to all distribution platforms (Linear and OTT), assurance of audio quality, respecting standards, workflows and procedures,Specific focus on audio transport between remote production centres, on premise techhubs and Cloud based infrastructuresEnsure that there are consistent architectural and design principles in place ensuring a consistent technical and operational model throughout our operations : evaluation and optimization of workflows and technical solutions for remote mixing and central aggregation with specific focus on multi audio, audio sync alignment, central core - remote operations & control architecture - in close collaboration with other WBD production and engineering teams,Relationship with vendors to find best fit solutions for audio mixing, responsible for proof of concept setup, audio equipment procurement.
Activities you will undertake in this role include:
Develop appropriate technology solutions for EMEA Live and FTA Platform, particularly in the areas of control rooms and communication systems, based upon overall technology strategy, company and production goals,Produce necessary specifications and SOW for third party implementers,Evaluate and select appropriate software or hardware and suggest integration methods,Assist with solving complex technical problems when they arise,Monitor solutions to ensure they have met both user needs and business goals,Work with senior stakeholders across the organisation to understand programme ideas and needs,Keep across best practices industry wide and guide internal teams with these best practices,Work closely with the other engineering groups (Infrastructure, Core Technology, M2P and Onsite Events teams) to ensure systems and processes are consistent and efficient,Working with Technology Partners across the organisation to ensure solutions meet global needs and practices (e.g. Security).
Requirements :
BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field,Strong knowledge in production and radio mixing systems, hardware and software (Lawo),Strong knowledge on intercom systems (Riedel),Strong knowledge of all forms of Video, Audio and Data flows over IP networks, especially SMPTE 2110 & 2022, knowledge of all forms of compression (Opus, MPEG2, H264, VC2, JPEGXS, etc) and media storage systems,Knowledge of VOIP (SIP, SBC, etc),Knowledge of SDN's,Experience with various operating systems (e.g. Windows, UNIX) and databases (e.g. MySQL),Developing highly resilient systems,Working with industry bodies to define standardised working practices of standards,Problem-solving aptitude,Organizational and leadership skills,Fluent in English, both written and spoken,Excellent communication skills.
Experience
Proven experience as an Audio system engineer/architect, complex projects management;Extensive experience with the technologies involved in Live Productions;Extensive experience in Cloud systems and remote working (e.g. VMware);Extensive experience of Audio & Communications systems within a live sports production environment.
Details
Permanent contract.
Regular Office hours from Monday to Friday, but may include out of regular hours of working as project needs dictate.
Some travel required.
