Duties include, but are not limited to: + Direct and guide staff during Use of Force (UOF) and do whatever means necessary to stop physical harm or excessive force on a youth. + Serve as a mandatory reporter of abuse. + Supervise Juvenile Correctional Officers (Youth Specialists) assigned to one shift (e.g., provide instruction & training, complete performance evaluations, investigate need for disciplinary action). + Oversee safety & security on one shift. + Serve as site supervisor on assigned shift, conduct briefings and roll call for Youth Specialists on shift, provide direction to lower level supervisors and Youth Specialists to ensure security, custody, safety control and programming. + Monitor and assure programs are held as scheduled including adherence to special management plans. + Conduct investigations of youth and/or employee incidents for disciplinary action. + Respond to institutional direct, indirect or programmatic questions to resolve issues related to institution operations. + Responsible for the coordination of major youth movements within institution (e.g. meal movement, to and from school, outside movement). + Act on behalf of Superintendent, Deputy Superintendents and Operations Administrator in their absences by serving as Incident Commander for all critical incidents affecting the institution. + Coordinate employee call offs, adhere to policies and procedures regarding the overtime roster, schedule staff, assign posts in staff shortages. + Prepare and review required reports (e.g. incident, physical force, injury, seclusion). + Will carry and is trained in the deployment and decontamination process of Oleoresin Capsicum pepper spray.
