Position Overview:
In this role, the Quality Engineer will support all elements of Quality including Cost of Quality, APQP and RCCA activities of the division's manufacturing group. This person will interact with External Customers, Production and Materials Management personnel, Quality Engineers and the Engineering community to solve quality related issues and quality concerns.
This individual will be responsible for quality improvement ideas and support the productivity and financial improvement plans for the business. This individual will work in a team environment as a key resource for the Quality teams to develop action plans that will improve the overall quality performance of the company. Responsibilities will include Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes to qualify new components, supporting issues with current production, and auditing current products to ensure process conformance. Manage the customer specific requirements and offer technical support. Work on multiple phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of moderate complexity, with results influencing project completion.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Be the point of contact for all quality related activities both internally and externallySupport the Supplier Development Leader with quality related issues within the supply chainInvestigate root cause of internal quality rejections and implement corrective actionsMonitor ongoing compliance with quality policies and procedures.Work directly with the customer base to solve external non-conforming productNotify internal departments of external quality issuesIdentify quality improvement opportunities within the manufacturing processBe a key resource in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and New Part Introduction (NPI) to the plantEstablish and update an internal quality metrics database.Resolve quality concerns that could affect the manufacturing operations.Assist in the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes in line with changing organizational needs and market conditions.Assess Quality Manager to meet requirements for IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and other applicable customer and internal system and reputation requirements.Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in engineering or a technical degree is desirable. An advanced degree is a plusA minimum of 5 yrs experience in a like manufacturing environment in Quality, Engineering or Production.Experience in a high volume-manufacturing environment, preferably automotive. Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers.Physical Requirements:
