Position Summary:An Estimator at SDI plays a pivotal role in construction and project management teams by providing essential support in the estimation and bidding processes. This key position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. An Estimator is responsible for facilitating the estimation process, ensuring accuracy, and managing bid documentation, which ultimately contributes to the success of SDI construction projects.
Activities/ Responsibilities/ Essential Duties:Assist in the estimation of construction projects, tracking project bids, and supporting the bid submission process.Collaborate with clients, estimators, project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather and analyze project information, including plans, specifications, and cost data.Maintain and organize bid documents, communicate with clients and subcontractors for bid pricing, and participate in bid reviews.Acts as liaison between the company, subcontractors, suppliers.Searching for project opportunities for the Solar DivisionContractors LicensingTravel coordinationAttend Tradeshows and Business Development Events
Job Specific Activities/ Responsibilities/ Duties:
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.Organize and maintain accurate records of bid documentation, including plans, specifications, and contracts.Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and quotes for various project components.Collaborate with project managers and estimators to refine and update bid proposals.Conduct research to stay updated on industry trends, materials, and pricing.Ensure compliance with bid deadlines and submission requirements.Participate in bid review meetings and support decision-making processes.Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines.Prepare reports and presentations related to project bids and cost estimates.Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
Familiarity with construction estimating software and tools.Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.Knowledge of project management principles and scheduling.Excellent data analysis and mathematical skills.Effective communication and negotiation abilities.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in construction.Basic computer skills with proficiency and working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Education/ Experience:Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, and/or 1-3 years relevant work experience in construction estimation.
