DescriptionSalary is Non-Negotiable. The successful candidate will be hired at the minimum salary.
This position reports directly to the Family Court Services Manager and provides in-house interventions to high conflict families who are ordered by the Court, specifically from Judges and General Magistrates in the Family Division, Domestic Violence Division, and Unified Children’s Court Division. This position is responsible for providing short-term and solution focused services to parents and children that includes assessment and intervention fully designed to promote healthy resolutions; recommending the need for additional services; and drafting and submitting documentation and status reports to the Court.
This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work/onsite schedule after a 90-day period, as outlined by existing Circuit policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Oversees completion of court ordered intervention including co-parenting, child/family assistance, time-sharing issues, parental alienation, reunification, marital reconciliation, parenting coordination, and crisis assistance.
Assesses parties’ need for additional services and facilitates appropriate referrals.
Prepares and submits reports to the court regarding parties’ progress and compliance.
Provides options and makes recommendations to the court for case disposition when requested.
Coordinates daily appointments and schedules cases by phone or in person.
Initiates and responds to telephone/email contact with parties, attorneys, guardian ad litem, mental health professionals, and others in order to facilitate service to parties between appointments.
Attends court hearings and depositions as required; provides information to the court as requested and as appropriate through testimony.
Inputs data and documents progress of parties in electronic case files. Maintains files and assesses appropriate time for inactivation.
Assists in developing, revising and implementing policies and procedures.
Assists employees in following procedures during court emergencies including hurricane preparations.
Supports activities which enhance the work of Family Court Services.
Functions as a member of the Family Court Services Team, enhancing morale, collaborating on cases and assisting when needed.
Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
One (1) year of experience with high conflict families, the court, and/or conflict resolution.
Parenting coordination and/or Mediation training preferred.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Thorough knowledge of Florida family law, and pertinent court rules and statutes.
Thorough knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and effects of parental separation and parental conflict on children.
Thorough knowledge of time-sharing and parenting plan options.
Thorough knowledge of conflict resolution techniques and negotiation processes and practices.
Thorough knowledge of attachment theory and effects of high conflict on children.
Thorough knowledge of effects of domestic violence and abuse on parents and children.
Ability to prioritize and juggle tasks, manage time, prepare and testify at court hearings, handle difficult cases, mediate multi-issue cases, and prepare related documents.
Ability to present material clearly and logically in oral and written forms to unrepresented parties, attorneys, collaterals, the court, and the public.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to collaborate, function as part of a team and enhance workflow of the unit.
Excellent computer skills and ability to use computer systems and programs including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
