The SCS Computing Facilities group is looking for an outgoing, talented, and dedicated IT Support Consultant to join our team. This is an exciting, dynamic, and highly visible role for someone who is as passionate as we are about technology and supporting one of the world's premier institutions for computer science research and education. In this position, you will be responsible for providing superior customer service and quality technical support to the faculty, staff, and students at the School of Computer Science.
Your core responsibilities will include:Collaborate and consult with end users on computing needs. Provide hardware recommendations and specify, quote, and order equipment.Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hardware problems on laptop and desktop computer systems and complete/maintain vendor certifications required to order replacement parts directly from manufacturers (Dell, Apple, etc.).Install, upgrade, and maintain operating systems (Windows & Apple) and various software packages.Document and track all incidents in an incident management system such as ServiceNow.Identify emerging high-impact issues. Communicate these to management and escalate to appropriate teams.Participate in the development and maintenance of support documentation and training materials for a wide variety of audiences including students, faculty, and staff.Collaborate with other teams across SCS Computing Facilities and CMU, to resolve issues and address concerns.UPS management which includes ordering, replacing, and disposing of batteries.Coordinate the delivery, setup and or removal of SCS computing equipment to and from offices and labs.Decommission and recycle equipment per SCS Computing Facilities and CMU guidelines.

Qualifications:Associates degree in a related field; Bachelors preferred.1-year minimum work experience in desk side/desktop support, local IT, help desk, enterprise, or consumer/retail tech support.Good interpersonal communication skills, problem solving skills, adaptability, technical acumen, and the desire to grow and develop your skills and knowledge.Experience in academic environments is preferred.Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50lbs.A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
