Summary
The Enterprise Architect III/Senior- Data plays a critical technology role at APS. EAs drive the aligned enterprises vision and multiyear plan across our technology portfolio. They manage the activities that ensure we drive leverage from our investments while creating an aligned vision across technology and our other lines of business. This EA role will focus on data and integration and how we grow this critical asset.
Minimum Requirements
Level III
Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field and7 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
Requires technical knowledge, typically obtained through advanced education and experience across multiple business areas or systems to improve technology planning and development
Level Senior
Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field and 10 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
Requires mastery level technical knowledge, typically obtained through advanced education and experience across multiple business areas or systems to improve technology planning and development
Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
5+ Years of Enterprise Architecture experience
10+ years hands-on experience as a Data Architect.
Experience managing, leading and mentoring architecture or engineering teams
Experience communicating and interacting with C-Suite executives.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of experience as a Tech Lead or Solution architect
5+ years Solution delivery with a demonstrated track record of delivering high-value business outcomes.
Big Data technologies and analytics skills (analytics platforms)
Knowledge in data governance and compliance (i.e. GDPR, HIPAA, etc..)
Data virtualization experience – how to best access distributed and diverse data sources.
Proven track record of collaboration and influence across multiple organizations, business partners and stakeholders in large scale business transformation.
Exceptional communication skills verbally, in writing, and presenting with all levels of employees and management.
Demonstrated experience in multiple business processes, ability to architect and design technology solutions and manage cross functional teams, projects, vendor management.
Experience delivering structured decision and trade-off analysis, influencing recommendations w/stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Familiarity with an industry architecture framework and modeling languages.
Major Accountabilities
Leads technology strategy development to identify foundational solutions and align the org to an implementation plan.
Define principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns and reference architectures to ensure technical decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture.
Demonstrable experience having led/participated in Data Architecture Strategy and Roadmap engagements.
Define roadmaps and transition architectures to bridge the gap from current to future state for business, information, and technology capabilities.
Technology thought leader with strong business acumen and ability to map technology trends and emerging business demands to define future enterprise technology landscape.
Partners with application, infrastructure, security, integration, data & analytics teams to bridge the gaps between and make sure that solutions are consistent with the target architecture.
Hands on experience with data architecture, data models, physical database designs, data integration strategy and design for operational systems, systems integration, and analytical systems.
Leads technology strategy development to identify foundational solutions and align the organization.
Make high-level design choices focused on manageability, scalability, usability, resiliency, availability, security, and/or safety for the software structure.
Work with Solution Architects and Solution Engineers to ensure solutions throughout all IT systems and platforms adhere to the enterprise architecture and to mitigate identified risks sufficiently, and to meet business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Conducts ongoing marketing, publicity, and communication of the Enterprise Architecture both within the information community, and the business units.
Conducts ongoing research and assessment of new analysis approaches for potential use within the Enterprise.
Seeks innovative solutions to problems through evaluation and proof of concepts with technology capabilities to determine compatibility with current and future architectural standards and business requirements.
Prepare a variety of reports, requests for proposals, and other documentation related to information technology plans, projects, performance, and accomplishments

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:
APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
