Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.
The Investment Management Operations group supports the equity, fixed income, liquidity and alternative businesses for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), providing middle-office services including portfolio manager support, client services, portfolio transitions, market registration, product data and performance and attribution analysis. MSIM Operations also provides mutual fund support, derivative processing, and counterparty and credit event management.
Experience / Knowledge Required:
Ideal candidate will have at 10 years of experience in Investment Operations, with knowledge of Liquidity Operations, Money Market Funds, and Liquidity products. Experience with Repos, Tri-Parties, TDs, CPs and understanding of same day cash critical.Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (Finance, Economics or Accounting preferred)Candidate should be a solid team player as well as possess the ability to work on their own initiative.Ability to work with colleagues across geographic, organizational, and functional boundaries.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to work in a high paces/ high volume environmentKnowledge of Aladdin a#LI-JO1Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for day to day Liquidity/ Money Market Fund operations, escalation and resolution of issues, as well as longer term projects.
Responsibility include, ensuring all day to day tasks are complete and accurate, address questions and concerns from the trading desk and escalate unresolved issues as needed.Responsible for representation of accurate cash and position and break resolution.Monitor trading dashboard to insure all trades flow down properly. Collaborate with IT and work on projects as necessaryResolve trade fails, settlement issues, updates and support.Manage claim status and escalationManage communication with Traders, Back Office, Reconciliation Teams, Brokers and Custodians to ensure that all trades and cash is represented and settling correctly.Address Investment Team concerns and queries and function as the main point of contact for the Liquidity trading desk.Manage all escalation and communication for all Liquidity trade issueWork closely with Global Teams to ensure operational consistency.Provide oversight to back office operations, reconciliation teams and Vendors providing support for all Liquidity functions.Role is Hybrid and will require in office attendance 3 days/week.
Expected base payrates for the role will be between $68000 and $125000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
