This job is ON -SITE - Travel is required to support the Froedtert Health system FTE:1.000000 Shift: 1 (Monday - Friday, 0800-1630 with flexibility) JobSummary: To facilitate culturally and linguistically competentcommunication between individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP)and medical providers in a manner that promotes patient safety andconfidentiality. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Aminimum of one year of experience in providing medical interpreting inEnglish and Spanish. Three years of directly related experience.Experience at a Level I Trauma Center.EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: High Schooldiploma or equivalent is required. Associate Degree or Bachelor Degreein related field preferred. Professional Medical Interpreter Programpreferred.SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Must be bilingual in English andlanguage to be interpreted, solid knowledge of medical terminology andcompetence in communicating the meaning of terms. Strong ability tointerpret diagnostic processes, treatments, procedures, preventive care,and be culturally competent Demonstrate strong interpersonal skillsnecessary to interact with patients, their families and health careproviders. Ability to perform under stressful situations and medicalemergencies. Ability to produce written translation of material, suchas: various forms, documents, patient letters and other material.SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Formal interpreter training preferred.40-hour medical interpretation training program preferred. CCHI or NBCMICertification preferred.LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Valid Wisconsin DriversLicenses required.
