Work on electric machine technology performing the mechanical design of a high performance electric machine for Formula Student Mechanical design of complete motor: Materials, structural, bearings, rotor dynamics including CAD, structural analysis (FEA) & optimization of highspeed machines Work as a team with the E-machine designer and the thermal engineer to develop the E-Machine from concept to design optimization The project will require benchmarking of technologies, concept geometries, exotic features & suppliers as you work with the Student Formula car teams to optimize the system to fit their needs Interact with subject matter experts in systems, power electronics, eMachine control, mechanical analysis and thermal simulation Exposure to business products and processes that drive next generation technology Opportunity to innovate, create and drive a project from start to finish, taking ownership and finding solutions to meet overall goals
Desirable BACKGROUND
Student in last year (of Masters) of Engineering degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics Have taken courses in structural analysis. Good understanding of material strength & material selection Experience of finite element software & related tools (ANSYS...) Experience of CAD tools & parametric design Understanding of programming languages e.g. Python, VBA Self-motivated, flexible, independent Good communication skills in both written and spoken English Duration: 5-6months
