Position Summary:
Gain an understanding of community pharmacy by performing all duties in the pharmacy, including preparing and dispensing prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care according to professional standards and state/federal legal requirements while under the supervision of a pharmacist. Fred Meyer also requires that all associates perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws. Essential Job Functions:
Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer serviceReview prescriptions issued by health care providers to confirm accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients neededPrepare medications using standard formulas and processes, such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredientsVerify new medication against existing medication and patient profile to verify that there are no drug-drug or drug-disease interactions prior to filling the prescriptionDirect pharmacy associates engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticalsVerify the work of the pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants, including accuracy of all prescriptions filledProvide information to pharmacy customers regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticalsMaintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugsMaintain pharmacy files and inventoryCreate and maintain purchase orders for medicationOpen and close departmentPerform Person in Charge (PIC) dutiesPromote and follow company initiativesAdminister immunizations as allowed by the State Boards of PharmacyMaintain flexibility to work any shiftSupervise and coach pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants in the performance of their dutiesMust be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Licensed intern making satisfactory progress in an Accreditation Council for a Pharmacy Education approved college of pharmacyMinimum 18 years of ageAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to maintain confidentialityAccuracy/attention to detailAbility to organize/prioritize tasks/projectsFamiliarity with industry/technical terms/processesAbility to work within set time frames and meet fixed deadlinesAbility to continue educationValid CPR/first aid certificationValid annual bloodborne pathogens (BBP) training certificationHepatitis B documentationValid State Board of Pharmacy license from state of employmentAPhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate or equivalent as allowed by the Board of Pharmacy in the state of employment
