Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Labour Relations position in Montreal, QC from May – August 2024.
Job Summary
The Intern, Labour Relations (LR) is responsible for collaborating with labour relations colleagues to assist in preparing arguments to defend the Company’s position on LR issues. The incumbent conducts research, analysis, and transactional support. The role performs data entry and other clerical assignments as needed. Additionally, the position participates in regular LR activities.
Major Responsibilities
Input grievances in a grievance management system
Utilize the grievance management system to pull trend reports
Identify grievance trends and work with Labour Relations Managers on action plans to reduce grievances
Support Labour Relations Manager by researching employee issues, including collective agreement interpretation, discipline, attendance management, and duty to accommodate
Assist the Labour Relations Manager with preparing for union joint conferences, arbitration and labour-management meetings
Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines.

Experience
Experience in a unionized environment and interpreting as well as applying collective agreements and relevant federal employment legislation*
