Internship Program Duration: June 3 rd – August 9 th , 2024
The Fall/Spring Internship will be an unstructured internship focused on training the Intern on some of the basic functions of the Commercial Lending shop. The Intern will work with the Portfolio Managers, Credit Analysts, and Relationship Managers and will gain exposure to the day-to-day working of the Commercial Lending team and will be called upon to assist in underwriting and portfolio management-related tasks, as well as other ad hoc projects related to portfolio monitoring and credit hygiene. Work schedule and number of hours worked weekly (minimum: 15) are flexible, within normal business hours.
The Intern will learn and assist with the day-to-day duties of the Commercial Team, including:
Receiving credit requests and making approve/decline decisions within established policy, guidelines, and turnaround times
Underwriting real estate-related credit requests.
Documenting decisions properly and completely, with particular diligence given to explanations of overrides or variances
Providing a high level of customer service to the originators of loan requests to include the communication of credit decisions and answering questions
Working with Loan Administration and Client Specialists to manage delinquencies on loans;
Reporting troublesome loans to the Senior Credit Officer on a timely basis
Ensuring that the systems of record are accurate for the loans being administered; ensuring that management information is reported timely and accurately
Obtaining satisfactory loan reviews and ensuring that regular audits are performed
