What Your Job Will Be Like:
The Component, Science, Engineering, and Production department, org 7577, is seeking a highly motivated IT/Cyber Information Assurance year-round, technical intern to join our supportive and highly collaborative team responsible for providing IT and cyber assurance services to Sandia's Manufacturing Center (7500). The successful candidate is a self-starter who has a broad interest in IT and Cyber, specifically, an interest in Oracle Manufacturing COTS, system administration, networking, and cyber assurance/security plan work. This position is customer focused and requires troubleshooting and problem solving related to complex processes and highly specialized equipment. The department performs a variety of IT and cyber assurance work in support of one Sandia's largest mission centers and is an excellent opportunity for an enterprising candidate seeking to broaden their IT/Cyber experience.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Perform system administration duties, including but not limited to, software installation, patching, and upgrading; hardware installation; network security, maintenance, monitoring; and troubleshooting related issues.Install a wide variety of Operational Technology Equipment on the center's Unclassified Operational Technology Network (UOTN).Develop, administer, and document the configuration and security of distributed computing systems, including operating systems, shared components, and networks.Ensure that all software, hardware, and firmware changes are recorded per established configuration management procedures.Ensure that systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with applicable governing policies and procedures.Implement vendor-supplied authentication, auditing, and other security-relevant features.Conduct periodic reviews and audits to ensure compliance with established government information assurance security policies and procedures.Assist with coordination and communication with business area managers and professional staff on system security compliance and information assurance technical assistance.Assist with the creation of system security plans and authorization agreements that meet certification and accreditation requirements.Report all security incidents to specified authorities; investigates, documents, and reports incidents; and provides protective and corrective measures in response to such incidents.
While some hybrid work is possible, due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work on-site.

Qualifications We Desire:
Currently enrolled in an accredited, undergraduate program in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, information technology, or similar STEM-related field.Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 (3.5/4.0 preferred).Interest in the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) manufacturing domain.Ability to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.Demonstrated customer service skills.Self-starter that can work well both on teams and as an individual.Interest in working in a fast-paced environment.Eager, willing, and able to learn new technical skills.Experience with cyber security, information assurance, information security, network/system administration, and/or operational technology.Experience researching, evaluating, and applying IT and/or cyber security requirements, directives, guidance, and policies to IT systems.Active DOE L clearance with the ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance.

Security Clearance:
