This Position is for an Insurance Sales Representative with work location in Ridgeland, MS.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience and three (3) to five (5) years of related business experience.
Job Scope:
Performs outside sales of agricultural insurance. Works with prospective clients and existing customers to explain features and merits of policies offered, recommending the type and amount of coverage based on analyses of customers' circumstances.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. Works under minimum supervision. A significant degree of discretion, analysis and independent judgment is required.
Essential Functions:
Compiles lists of prospective clients to provide leads for additional business. Travels to prospective client's locations and explains features and merits of policies offered, recommending the type and amount of coverage based on an analysis of the prospect's circumstances.
Reviews financial and legal information. Calculates and quotes premium rates for recommended policies. Monitors collection of premiums from policyholders. Helps policyholders settle loss claims.
Formulates plans to retain existing clientele, suggests additions or changes in insurance program to policyholders.
Develops long-term relationships with clients and underwriters. Serves as a liaison between the Association and insurance carriers.
Skill Requirements:
Specialized knowledge of agricultural insurances and insurance underwriting standards. Specialized knowledge of the practices and procedures of insurance underwriting; General knowledge of accounting/financial systems; Skill in oral and written communication; Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to perform intermediate to advanced-level analyses under limited supervision.
Working Relationships:
Frequent interaction with association departmental staff and management. Occasional interaction with Farm Credit Bank of Texas staff. Occasional interaction with area professionals including real estate agents, commercial bankers, and others who deal with the association in the normal course of business.
Physical Activities:
Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to stand for limited periods of time. Ability to walk for moderate distances. Frequent finger/hand manipulation (e.g. keyboard, office equipment, small hand tools, etc.). Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling while exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
