Instructor/Lecturer of Primary Care and Diversity Outreach
Full-time, 100%, 12-month
The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine MedicalDistrict Veterinary Clinic invites applications for a full-time (100%),12-month Instructor/Lecturer position based in our Chicago companionanimal practice. This position will be a split appointment seeing bothgeneral practice cases (60%) and organizing and overseeing College based(Diversity Equity and Inclusion) DEI initiatives in the greaterChicago-land area (40%).
MDVC is a close-knit, small animal veterinary clinic that is directlyassociated with the University of Illinois College of VeterinaryMedicine. Professional Opportunities: This position will be located at theMedical District Veterinary Clinic (MDVC), which is in the IllinoisMedical District, Chicago, Illinois. MDVC is well equipped with modernsurgical facilities, in-house laboratory, digital radiography, digitaldental radiography, and ultrasound. This position will report to theDirector of the Medical District Veterinary Clinic and is available onor about July 1, 2024, or as soon as the possible following the close ofthe search.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree.Ability to get Illinois licensure is required. Hardworking, fast paced,engaging, and excellent communication/interpersonal skills are required.Additional knowledge and skills in the areas of general medicine of dogsand cats, preventative healthcare, and practice-level surgery anddentistry are also preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates areencouraged to apply, as we serve a large Hispanic population.
Duties: The successful candidate will perform a high level ofgeneral practice and surgery while working with a team of primary careveterinarians. Applicants need to have a desire to teach and mentorveterinary students on a daily basis. Applicants need to have a stronginterest in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as this person will bespear heading the College of Veterinary Medicine Chicago based outreach.The applicant will be working and collaborating with professionalveterinary organizations and local school systems on a weekly basis.
