We are currently hiring an Innovation Director in Detroit. The Innovation Director executes fundraising strategies directed toward foundations, high capacity individual donors and other funders in an assigned geographic area. The Director will work to uncover areas of alignment between the American Heart Association's core priorities and those of the funder. The primary purpose of the job is to generate revenue via foundation support, corporate relations and individual solicitation through the engagement and mobilization of individuals within corporations and/or the community.
We have a fast-paced sales type of environment with the main responsibility of driving revenue in support of our mission. We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

Responsibilities
Manage existing and new relationships with foundations, high potential individual donors and other high potential issue-based funders to achieve campaign goals through the cultivation, stewardship, renewal and deepening engagement via frequent face-to-face meetings to obtain, retain and upgrade their financial commitment, according to business plan.
Conduct prospect research on potential funders for issue-based and/or innovative projects. Attend networking events or summits where issues of interest to the American Heart Association are being discussed and potential donors or content experts are in attendance.
Engage, recruit, and mobilize community leaders and content experts to serve on volunteer leadership committees, as needed, to get their thought leadership and flesh out potential campaigns that include both fundraising and health outcome components.
Provide timely direction/training, framework and resources to volunteers while at the same time relying on their expertise, abilities and willingness to leverage their networks to drive the goals of the organization.
Integrate Health Strategies programming/initiatives into appropriate events to ensure market visibility regarding impact and need.
Manage cultivation event logistics including, but not limited to, event promotions, entertainment and ensuring appropriate invitees for the market.
Provide recognition to volunteers for their efforts to help ensure their success and drive satisfaction. Hold each other accountable, both volunteers and staff, while being accessible and build collaborative staff-volunteer partnerships that are based on a foundation of mutual trust.
Ensure accuracy in data management, including tracking and reporting.
Handle staff follow-up and monitoring of assigned fundraising activities. Includes working closely with the Communications Director to develop and manage a marketing plan.
Qualifications
3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience
Ability to do daily local travel up to 75%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times
Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving
Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office

University/College degree or equivalent experience, preferred
Experience managing and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-Suite level
Knowledge of corporate and community networks
