Statement of Position
We seek a dynamic and experienced Innovation Consultant to join our team and drive the transformation of our organization's internal culture through a strategic "test and learn" approach. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking and results-oriented professional with a proven track record of fostering innovation within diverse corporate environments. This role requires a unique blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and hands-on experience in implementing initiatives that elevate organizational culture.
The Innovation Consultant reports directly to the Director Innovation.
The Innovation department supports the experimental approach to the identification and development of solutions and incremental improvements for complex business problems.
The Innovation Consultant seeks out opportunities for the organization through market analysis, past professional experiences, and through monitoring new technology and process development. Through an incremental deliverable approach, the innovation department obtains buy-in from all necessary parties, allowing us to demonstrate the benefits of the solution in the early development stages while collaborating closely with the customer.
The Innovation Consultant is responsible for executing human centered design processes within the Innovation department. This person will seek out and research opportunities to advance and support the organization, often serving as a project manager for exploration efforts by providing coordination and facilitation expertise. The innovation consultant will run point on the evaluation and research of opportunities and escalate issues appropriately and should have the ability to take and understand direction from executive leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Analysis and Research:
Conduct assessments of the current state of an innovation engagement, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement as it relates to innovation.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand the organization's goals, values, and vision for innovation.
Develop and implement pilot projects to test new ideas, technologies, and methodologies.
Test and Learn Framework:
Establish a systematic "test and learn" framework to encourage experimentation and risk-taking.
Design and execute initiatives that promote a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and adaptation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Foster collaboration and communication across different departments and teams to facilitate workshops, training sessions, and brainstorming activities to promote cross-functional innovation.Change Management:
Act as a catalyst for change, guiding the organization through cultural shifts and mindset changes.
Provide leadership and support to ensure that innovation becomes embedded in the organization's DNA.
Metrics and Evaluation:
Create key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of innovation pilots.
Regularly evaluate and report on the effectiveness of implemented strategies, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus
Knowledge Requirements:
Proven experience as an Innovation Consultant or in a similar role, with a successful track record of driving innovation in organizations
Strong understanding of organizational culture, change management, and innovation methodologies
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights
Project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams
5+ years of related experience preferred
