POSITION TITLE : PLANT OPEX ENGINEER
SCOPE: Effectively provide leadership and enhance Continuous Improvement (CI) activities through aligning, training, supervising, administrating, coaching, and project/metric tracking. Independently mentor employees including management on CI methods and issue resolution for existing and new projects and teams. Serves as a resource for CI related information. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to the development and execution of Continuous Improvement strategy, plans, and goals in support of the company vision, values, strategies, and plan. Act as a change agent by providing mentoring at all levels in Continuous Improvement, included but not limited to Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Provide leadership, advice, counsel and/or instructions to individual employees, teams, facilitators, area management, and appropriate personnel relating to CI activities. Monitor and assess CI related needs and performance. Provide feedback, resources, support, training and direction as required to facilitate changes, meet needs and enhance performance. Review periodicals, audio and video tapes, benchmark and network as required to be familiar with and be able to communicate leading edge tools related to training and CI. As required, provide feedback to management and external functions on status and issues regarding the success of CI. Coordinate and gain facilitator commitment as required to ensure facilitation of recognized teams. Perform additional CI and other duties as assigned. Assures that predicted savings are tracked (i.e. CTW file), validated and posted to the site’s financial operating results. Comply with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all applicable Regulations and Standards as defined in BD Quality, Safety and Environmental Manual and enterprise I.T. systems.
EDUCATION:
Requires a B.S. Degree in Business Management, Engineering or related discipline. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma training/certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Five years experience in developing, organizing, implementing, and managing projects and assignments.
SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.) , Metrics usage and follow up, Credibility, Execute and Lead, Facilitator / people oriented, Change agent, Initiative, Manage by Influence, Relationship building, Problem Solving, Leading Change and managing resistance.
