What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join our team.

On any given day, you may be called on to:
Support research and development, construction, or maintenance activities
Perform technically sound exposure assessments, which include the anticipation, recognition, and evaluation of workplace hazards (e.g., chemical, biological, and physical agents); the specification of exposure abatement and mitigation methods using the hierarchy of controls; and quality documentation of the assessments
Perform subject matter expert responsibilities for an industrial hygiene topical area corporate procedure
Occasional travel to other sites may be required.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry or a closely related field plus (5) or more years of relevant occupational safety and health work experience; or master's degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or a closely related field plus (2) or more years relevant experience; or doctorate in relevant occupational safety and health discipline; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Credentialed by ABIH as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
Ability to work effectively with others in a teaming environment under minimal supervision
Qualifications We Desire:
Competence in the field of industrial hygiene (occupational/environmental health) as demonstrated through a combination of related education, training, and work experience
Department of Energy (DOE)-granted Q-level security clearance
Credentialed by BCSP as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite computer applications
Excellent customer relationship focus and workplace interpersonal skills
Experience working independently on assignments and exercising decision-making authority
Experience providing authoritative consultation and advice based on experience and technical knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Working familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations (29CFR1910 and 29CFR1926) and Department of Energy safety and health regulations (10CFR850 and 10CFR851)
Experience performing occupational/environmental health related monitoring and interpreting results

We have corporate program responsibilities for Chemical Safety, Local Exhaust Ventilation, Explosives Safety, Biological Safety, Laser Safety, Nano Material Safety, Beryllium Program, along with many others.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Position Information:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
