Job Description
Insight Global is looking for an Industrial Designer to support a Connectivity portfolio within an Experience Design team. Candidates need to be local to Basking Ridge, NJ to go onsite for testing and interaction with physical products on a hybrid schedule. Candidates will be joining a team that does end to product design for new telecommunication consumer products. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of customer facing products and technology that is put into market for customer interaction. Candidates will be building and executing on commercial products, working to understand the contextual needs of the product, and support the end-to-end industrial design processes. On a day-to-day basis candidates can expect to be involved in activities such as design for manufacture, interaction with development stakeholders for troubleshooting and understanding the details of the hardware products, sketching and creating renderings, getting into the depth of products to understand the detail and sophistication behind them, working with RF technology, system architect design or the audit process of venting a product, and investigating problems and challenges with products to create new ideations of the design. This is a creative role, but also requires day to day project management skills to be able to interact with stakeholders. This candidate will report to a Connectivity Category Lead who will help lead day to day facilitation of work and project alignment. Candidates should have a portfolio of up to date work and be open to a collaborative environment.
Skills and Requirements
4+ years of experience as an Industrial Designer or Hardware Designer with consumer facing, commercial products
Strong documentation within the design process and ability to work within a Design System
Understanding of core design tools- Figma, Adobe Creative Suite
Experienced with tools such as - Arduino or CAD/SolidWorks, KeyShot, Rhino
Experience with design for manufacture, RF technology, thermal testing or system architect design
Ability to create renderings, sketches and collaborate on UX journey maps
Comfortable working with cross functional stakeholders such as development teams, manufacturing vendors building decks when needed to present ideas
Portfolio that shows recent design work and full design process Designing telecommunication physical products
HCI - human computer interaction or HMI - human machine interaction
Google Suite experience
Ability to translate complex technical requirements into consumer experiences null
