The Leidos Corporate Tax Department is seeking an Indirect Tax Accountant to join our team of tax professionals supporting our Corporate Office located in Reston, VA.
This is a hybrid position that requires up to 2 days onsite work from Reston - VA. Selected candidate is expected to live within commuting distance to Reston - VA.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist and support state & local tax audits by gathering transaction details, preparing workpapers, and developing arguments for submission to the tax authorities
Gather and analyze data from various systems for reverse sales & use tax audits
Gather and analyze data from various systems to identify tax risk based on program performance locations
Research state & local tax issues and prepare guidance for internal customers
Gather and analyze data from various systems to prepare state & local tax workpapers
Prepare and enter journal entries
Assist the tax team with data gathering and data processing from sources such as the general ledger, contract database and other financial systems
Assist with creating Excel models for various transactions / scenarios
Assist in state & local tax planning and execution for programs in a variety of industries (Federal Govt, Transportation, Construction, Health)
Assist in resolving state & local tax notices
Assist with resale and exemption certificate requests
Assist with ad hoc projects related to indirect tax
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related degree with 2+ years of accounting experience in either corporate or public accounting.
Exceptional project management skills are required, with proactive process improvement experience.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Strong accounting skills, including demonstrated ability in account reconciliations
Strong computer and technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Flexible with strong judgment and decision-making skills
Able to prioritize workload in order to meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
Strong attention to detail, yet understand and apply the degree of accuracy necessary for the task at hand
Must be comfortable with virtual communications and working with geographically disparate groups
Organized and demonstrate ability to complete complex tasks and projects requiring independent initiative
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Deltek Costpoint and Hyperion (or similar systems) are a plus
Energetic and have a high sense of urgency while working on projects
A quick learner who is willing to take on new challenges and roles
A high level of confidence, detail orientation, integrity, self-motivation, and a hands-on approach to problem solving
Self-starter, creative, team player, and positive attitude
Pay Range:
Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
