Job Description Summary
Impact Dynamics builds analytical models of the fan modules and component rigs to enable design assessment, calculation of primary/secondary damage and impact design loads, and to assist in ingestion related problem solving and non-linear dynamic analysis for tech maturation, new and fielded products. As a Staff Engineer within Impact Dynamics, you interface with design, Systems, and Engine Dynamics to integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities
As an Impact Dynamics Staff Engineer, you will:
Lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business as a recognized expert in a specialized fieldBe responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implicationsContribute to the overall strategy and manage complex issues within functional area of expertiseRemain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutionsExecute with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures, and the product / program requirementsRecommend approach to meet the technical and program requirementsFormulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitmentsDevelop action plans to anticipate and respond to problemsProvide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teamsMentor others in the organizationAssure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and proceduresMonitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developmentsLead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasksParticipate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer ScienceAt least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering positionMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance
Desired Characteristics
Strong familiarity with engine dynamics design principlesFamiliarity with vibration analysis, vibration testing and rotor dynamics' analysis methodsExperience with NASTRAN, LSDYNA or other finite element computer codes (modeling and non-linear dynamic analysis)Familiarity with ANSYSInterest in continuing to improve standard processes and improve best practicesStrong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systemsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problemsDocument, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding, and capability of the businessAbility to influence others and lead small teams and work effectively with internal and external customersTeach and set standard practices within this field
