About Human Services Coordinator II

  Job Description

  The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is excited to offer a career growth opportunity to a motivated and talented individual for the Human Services Coordinator Supervisor (HSC II) position in the Worcester Area Office. The Human Service Coordinator Supervisor will work with assigned staff and the Area Office Supervisory Team to build respectful and collaborative partnerships with individuals, families, guardians, provider agencies and other stakeholder groups involving the work of the Area Office and Department. The Human Service Coordinator II provides direct supervision, support, consultation, and orientation to assigned Human Service Coordinator I's and other staff. The HSC (II) is considered a critical and integral member of the Area Office supervisory team in planning and resource allocation activity involving community services.

  Additional Human Service Coordinator II responsibilities include: planning, prioritization and coordination of work by assigned staff which incorporates administrative, supportive and educational components; monitoring of Individual Service Plans; maintaining compliance with all relevant policies and procedures; assuring that case documentation is maintained and consistent with standards; identifying individual cases involving health, safety, risk, changing needs and ensuring these situations are brought to the attention of the Area Director or designee(s), while engaging in problem solving; monitoring and providing consistent performance planning, feedback and evaluations to assigned staff. This position will also perform other related duties assigned by the Area Director and / or designee.

  Please Note:

  This position is located in the Worcester Area Office in Worcester, MA.

  Schedule: Monday - Friday: 9:00am - 5:00pm

  Days Off: Sunday/Saturday

  Flexibility needed to meet the needs of the Area Office.

DDS serves over 43,000 vulnerable individuals throughout their lifetimes, providing a spectrum of day, employment, and residential supports. The agency directly oversees and manages $3 billion in public funds ($2.7B+ operating budget) and approximately 5,500 staff, the largest state employee workforce of any agency in the Massachusetts executive branch of government.

  Qualifications

  First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.

  Applicants must have (A) at least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, case management or clinical/therapeutic experience (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

  Based on assignment, travel may be required. Incumbents who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.

  Substitutions:

  I. A Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.

  Based on assignment as Qualified Intellectual Disabled Professionals, within the Department of Developmental Services, a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, human services, rehabilitation, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, recreation therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, physical education or other a related field is required.
