  This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This new space will enable teamwork, collaboration and innovation that will help us to achieve our mission to electrify life in one generation.

  JOB OVERVIEW

  OPG is looking for a dedicated, results driven and dynamic professional to join our team in the role of Human Resources Generalist.

  Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for providing employee service in line with appropriate policies and objectives. Responsible for providing advice, guidance, recommendations, and ensuring that policies and procedures are complied with. This role will also provide expertise on employee service matters, including grievances, compensation, selection processes etc.

  KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

   

  Advise management on collective agreement application and staff relations matters.

  Provide guidance to management on the attendance support program.

  Provide advice, guidance and services in areas of; organizational structure, job evaluation, and compensation including related policies and procedures.

  Access HR databases to report on trends and emerging issues. Gather statistics, complete studies, analyze and prepare reports on a variety of HR issues or procedures.

  Contribute to continuous improvement and best practices to influence human resources strategies and be a driving force to support HR’s Service Delivery Model.

  Responsible for developing or providing management with advice and services, staff planning, placement, promotion, performance management issues.

  Keep up to date on training activities and available programs.

  Initiate, develop, and deliver training courses.

  Develop for approval and carry out work plans for programs/processes in specialized areas.

  Perform other duties as required.

  EDUCATION

  University Degree or Post Secondary Education in Human Resources

  CHRP/CHRL designation or Masters Degree in Human Resources is considered an asset

     

  QUALIFICATIONS

   

  We are seeking a human resource professional with the following:

  3-5 years of experience as an HR Consultant, HR Advisor or HR Generalist. Sound knowledge of human resources principles and processes and ability to provide advice and operational support on a wide range of HR matters.

  Labour/employee relations experience in a unionized environment will be an asset.

  Results oriented and the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities.

  Strong problem solving skills to address and overcome current and future challenges.

  Ability to communicate effectively, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong facilitation, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills.

  Commitment to high standards of procedural safety and regulatory compliance.

  Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

  Occasional travel between locations in Durham region is required for this position.
