Based in our Elmira, ON location , reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects Human Resources and of our Health, Safety and Environmental Programs in our plant and office, ensuring conformance and compliance with HR and EHS policies, procedures, laws and regulations. As a team member of the HR department, you will support tasks and initiatives within our HR functions, helping with administrative needs as well as hands on interactions with a focus on communications, training development / delivery and engagement activities and initiatives. This on-site role will be focused on our primary customer – our employees.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
(a) Perform HR functions and assist in all aspects of HR:
Provides administrative support and performs professional level HR activities to participate in the development, implementation, and administration of human resources policies, programs and procedures, benefits administration, employee recognition, recruitment, coaching and team building, corrective action issues, and employee development.
Accurately helps to process, document, verify and maintain records for employment files.
Coordinate and/or develop and conduct training for employees including orientation and Environmental, Health and Safety. Maintain training tracker, database and records.
Help with other projects and initiatives to support our Culture and One-Emerson Values, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Wellness and our philosophies of 12 Lifesaving Behaviours.
(b) Perform functions to support our Health and Safety/Environmental Programs
Help to maintain required H&S documentation and conduct regular audits of H&S processes.
Meet monthly important metric targets for EHS and support processes including but not limited to Audits, Observations, and preventative activities.
Member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee – help to guide and facilitate the JHSC; attend meetings, assist in any corrective actions, maintain H&S Committee Meeting minutes, agendas, and inspections.
Help to support and maintain up-to-date H&S Manual, Emergency Response Manual, Crisis Management and Contingency plans.
Help to conduct Job Hazard Analysis, root cause analysis of incidents, workplace inspections, PSR review, hazard identification and risk assessments, and drive closure of corrective and preventive actions identified; Provide recommendations, develop tools and resources, SOP’s and other actions to support compliance and best practices.
Support needs for Environmental, Health and Safety Conformance and Compliance Management
Promote the 5S + 1 system and support audits, findings, corrective action and implementation of Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

For This Role, You Will Need:
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, with courses in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
4+ years of recent combined HR experience.
1+ of EHS experience
2+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment.
Solid knowledge, understanding, and application of the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and AODA in Ontario.
Experience/ participation in HR and/or EHS policy/program development, execution, and maintenance.
Development and delivery of training.
Experience in identifying, evaluating, and controlling Health, Safety, and Environmental hazards in the workplace.
Flexibility and ability to effectively prioritize based on changing needs.
Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Time management, organizational skills, and ability to meet objectives.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
Meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate high interpersonal and facilitation skills.
Professional, courteous, and pleasant demeanor to deal with all levels of employees.
Go-Getter personality and ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and guidance.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
HR Accreditation or EHS Accreditation or actively working toward is an asset.
Knowledge in EHS industry standards in Ontario.
Experience driving and delivering engagement activities.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
Ability to quickly interpret complex regulatory issues and provide recommendations.
