Housing Peer Support Specialist

Essential functions (job duties):
POSITION PURPOSE
Assists with day-to-day operations of residence, oversees program activities for women, children and families, serves as a facilitator and promotes a welcoming environment. Aids residents with daily tasks, handles administrative responsibilities, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures and safety standards. This position specifically supports the Ryan White Part D Women and Children’s Housing Project that provides supportive housing for Women Living with HIV. Reports to Program Supervisor, Our Women Organizing Resources and Knowledge.
Essential Job Functions
Monitors residents and premises to ensure adherence to house rules and regulations. Evaluate any existing or potential methodologies for residents to successfully navigate non-Ryan White community services and placement opportunities. Identify, coordinate, and implement process improvements to ensure optimal coordination of resident schedules/activities. Complete data entry of services provided in appropriate databases. Run monthly and quarterly reports to be submitted to the Housing Coordinator according to established monthly due dates.
Participate in case conferences and psychosocial support activities to reinforce resident individualized care plan. Monitor staff documentation to ensure clear and accurate record keeping. Aide community partners during on-site activities and services.
Provide Health Education Risk Reduction assistance with navigating Ryan White Continuum of Care services and emotional support to peers within the program. Provide referral requests to other staff and community partners that address identified barriers to HERR and emotional well-being.
Oversee cooking, cleaning, and maintenance of common areas to ensure schedules are properly maintained.
Lead orientation to the program goals and objectives for new residents and Peer Support Specialists Staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree
Associate’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 2 or more years job related experience. Experience working with people with HIV is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requires working knowledge of Ryan White Continuum of Care, other community-based governmental entitlement programs, and Housing & Urban Development’s Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS.
Must be able to establish and uphold boundaries with staff and residents to ensure parity in treatment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with underserved communities
Can demonstrate logical reasoning and creativity.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, virtual meeting platforms, and other technology devices, systems that support the project.
Ability to assist with managing day-to-day residential and program operations.
Ability to utilize communication and emergency systems.
