Horse Show Grooms: 12 Temporary, Full-Time Positions (04/01/24-10/01/24) in Colts Neck, NJ. Tues-Sat 6am-10am & 2pm-6pm (40 hours) at $17.75/hr and Sunday 6am-10am & 2pm-6pm (8 hours of overtime required) at $26.63/hr. Employer reserves the right to pay a higher wage rate or bonus to any worker, in its sole discretion, based on performance, skill, tenure or experience. Employer offers optional free basic lodging. If local travel required, an additional $30 daily per diem is paid.
Body clipping may be available for an additional $100 per horse in addition to the hourly wage. Employer offers the option to take up to two weeks of unpaid personal time off when both advance notice is given and it is approved by the Employer. 3 months minimum experience required but no education required. No on-the-job training provided. Employer uses a single workweek for computing wages due and workers are paid every two weeks. Employer will make all deductions from a worker's paycheck required by law. Employer offers optional free basic lodging. Employer will reimburse H-2B workers in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker.
If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for the worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $15.46 per day during the travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. The employer will provide workers at no charge all the tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
Job Duties - Will be responsible for the care of top show horses including grooming, feeding, watering, bathing, body clipping & supervised turnout. Groom will maintain and clean stalls & work area daily. Groom will inspect, observe and report horse's physical condition to owner daily. Other responsibilities include hoof care and applying leg bandages as needed. Groom will be responsible for the care of 3 to 5 horses at a time which will include tacking up & checking for correct fit of bridles, martingales, saddles & other equipment.
