At Altasciences Preclinical, we are looking for passionate individuals to join our team. As a Histology Technician, you'll play a crucial role in our quest for excellence. To perform the job of Histology Technician successfully, the individual is required to perform, but not limited to: the preparation of quality tissue samples for histopathologic evaluation; identification of tissue samples for proper embedding orientation; microtomy skills; performance routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining procedures; knowledge of the use and maintenance of equipment used for the preparation of tissue samples and the ability to maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.What You'll Do HereMaintains and documents the use and maintenance of laboratory equipmentMaintains a safe, clean and orderly laboratory environmentPerforms paraffin tissue processingIdentifies required tissue sample orientation and performs paraffin embedding proceduresUses microtomy skills in the preparation of routine (paraffin embedded) microscopic slides according to standard operating procedures and/or required by study protocolsPerforms routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining as well as cover slipping microscopic slidesTroubleshoots equipment and/or operation failures and takes appropriate actions to keep interruptions to a minimumAnalyzes raw data collection and solves for deviation in standard operating procedures (SOP) and/or protocol requirementsDisposition of hazardous chemical, generation of the hazardous chemical lab pack and data entry to the laboratory hazardous chemical recordsOrdering of warehouse supplies and data entry to laboratory inventory records may be assignedWhat You'll Need To SucceedAssociate's degree (AA), specializing in science, preferredWork experience includes, but not limited to at least 1+ years laboratory experience and/or training HT (ASCP) eligible within one year of employmentIdentification of tissue organs and/or tissue samples; microtomy skills and routine hematoxylin and eosin staining preferred Handles and disposes biological and/or chemical substances and wastes in accordance with applicable policies and proceduresWears appropriate PPE in accordance with policies and procedures.
