Highway/Roadway Engineer

Our global team is looking for a motivated Highway/Roadway Engineer to serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects.

You will work on highway and roadway projects for major transportation clients including State DOTs, regional transportation planning authorities and local agency and municipal clients. Your projects will range from small intersections and corridor improvement projects to large interchanges and multimodal improvements that are either traditional Design-Bid-Build or Alternative Delivery.
Previous experience with intersection design, construction phasing/maintenance of traffic, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometric layout and roadway modeling is preferred. Interchange design and coordination of survey, grading, drainage, utilities and layout of other various site items is a plus. Project involvement may range from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase.
Primary Responsibilities
As an employee-owner in this role, we'll count on you to:
Oversee the work of Designers and EITs
Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects
Serve as technical liaison with client on project efforts
Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team's work; working with the Project Manager to assist the team in meeting overall project objectives and client expectations
May also assume some project management duties and have a fair amount of client interaction
Be open to opportunities to work with a variety of clients, projects and staff through HDR's collaborative worksharing efforts across North America*LI-MR1QualificationsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
5 years of experience in highways and local roads engineering projects
P.E. license preferred or the ability to obtain it
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Microsoft Office experience.
An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualificati ns
Experience in marketing including preparing presentations and technical proposals
DOT and local government experience and relationships
Demonstrated hands-on experience using Bentley (Microstation, Open Roads) or Autodesk (Autocad, Civil3D) for model-based digital delivery
