  Job Description

  Work Arrangement

  This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center in Warren Michigan three times per week, at minimum.

  The Role

  Across our organization, our Strategic Technology Initiatives team possesses a wide range of expertise and experience. Our common goal is to create an accommodative policy and environment for GM to meet its business goals through cross-functional collaboration both inside and outside the company. As General Motors prepares for an all-electric future, High Voltage Charging Regulations and Standards will play a crucial role in shaping standards and strategies.

  What You’ll Do

  Single point contact for High Voltage Charging standards at GM

  A technical expert at General Motors representing various standards development organization including the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Canadian Standards Association (CSA) group, Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN), and more as needed

  Represent GM at relevant charging consortiums including, CharIN, ChargeX and more if needed

  Identify any upcoming activities within identified development organizations and communicate them to the impacted General Motors stakeholders.

  Influence the development of new standards on behalf of General Motors.

  Make a distinction between good methods and requirements and those that are obsolete, by challenging historical methods.

  Identify and address complex integration issues with system experts to provide a vehicle level solution.

  Champion support and staffing of relevant committees and task forces.

  Additional Job Description

  Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  Candidate must have one of the following engineering degrees: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering

  Experience with developing standards and regulations at appropriate forums and committees

  Experience in High Voltage Charging and V2X Energy Systems development, verification, validation activities

  Experience in vehicle controls, hardware design and failure modes

  Understand appropriate content for Vehicle and System Level Specifications

  High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and negotiate effectively with others to meet mutual goals

  Strong track record of solving complex problems and outlining the strategy by which others can solve a problem

  What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  Master’s degree in technical discipline as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  In-depth knowledge of vehicle integration and developed other systems that closely interact with propulsion controls and vehicle power subsystems

  Understanding of distributed and networked real-time control systems

  Understanding of system reliability, safety, monitoring, and diagnostic technologies and processes

  Understanding of embedded software development, testing and associated tools

  Knowledge and experience with GM’s Global Vehicle Development Process

  A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.
