The candidate for this position will work closely with a team to support additive manufactured heat exchanger component design and development for advanced future aircraft applications. Additive manufacturing provides opportunities for novel geometries that require prediction and confirmation of heat transfer and pressure drop performance. This position is within the Thermal Management Heat Exchanger Product Line Organization in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The Heat Exchanger Product Line encompasses all engineering activities associated with the design, development, qualification, and production support of Heat Exchangers. The product line includes materials, design, project and manufacturing teams in Windsor Locks, CT as well as other global locations.Eligible for relocationPrimary Responsibilities:
Work within an Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) of aero-thermal, materials, design, manufacturing, and test engineers to develop additive manufactured heat exchangersPredict and validate aero-thermal performance including heat transfer and pressure drop via:1-D thermodynamic sizingComponent level thermal analysis3-D CFD-based evaluation of component performanceCreating test plans and supporting test of subscale and full-scale heat exchangersAssure that key milestones are met and support creation of presentations and documentationEstablish and mature Aero/Thermal capabilities within heat exchanger product line.Develop process automation and streamline data transfer between upstream & downstream functions.Qualifications/Experience Needed:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experienceThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is requiredU.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearanceMust have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
