Job Description
The Healthcare Linen and Portering Manager is responsible for developing and executing facility solutions within the hospital to ensure all health and safety, quality and infection control standards are met for patient and linen transport (portering) within the facility. The Healthcare Linen and Portering Manager manages the external laundry services and internal patient transfers with safety and confidentiality and leads the operations activities by ensuring areas of responsibility meet objectives, client expectations and Key Point Indicators (KPI?s).
Job Responsibilities
? Lead a team of staff in a program that moves and supplies patient internal transport services, lift teams, clean and soiled linen transport, devices, and equipment management
? Assigns and has delivered oxygen tanks, devices and equipment maintaining patient confidentiality
? Manages all ordering, inventory and assignments of linens and transport services as required
? Establish and maintain effective client, patient, and staff rapport for a mutually beneficial working relationship
? Engage top talent and develop teams to their fullest potential, plan and lead management meetings
? Ownership and accountability of operational management and financial performance of the units
? Interface with Hospital Support Services Command Centre and the Dispatch/Facility-Pro programs to control and manage infection control, patient confidentiality and performance management
? Executes performance metrics, data, order and inventory; educate teams on key levers to improve margins
? Ensure the maintenance and completion of financial statements relevant to the department
? Build revenue and manage budget for cost controls for labour, supply, and inventory
? Create value through efficient operations, costs controls and profit management
? Ensure consistent operating standards and processes are followed for patient safety, efficient transport and labour productivity

Qualifications
? Post-secondary diploma or degree in environmental or healthcare related discipline is an asset
? A minimum of 3 year?s experience in a healthcare environmental, linen and or transport services
? A minimum of 2 year?s experience in a supervisory or management role preferred
? Experience managing a unionized workforce and knowledge of Collective Agreements is an asset
? Knowledge of Provincial Infectious Disease Advisory Committee (PIDAC) is an asset
? Exceptional communication, organization and time-management skills are essential
