The Head, US Payer Account Management is a critical role within the commercial organization, responsible for leading the account management team and achieving market access goals to optimize patient access to therapy. This individual will possess deep expertise and a successful leadership record in account management and field-execution of market access strategy. This position will report to the Sr Director, US Market Access to define access strategy to ensure successful commercial execution. This individual will work closely with the Sr. Director of Strategic Pricing and Contracting, as well as cross functional team members in Commercial Operations & Analytics, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Legal, Compliance and Finance.
Primary Responsibilities:Collaborate to define market access strategy and set contracting strategy and performance goals for pharmaceutical assets (Simbrinza, Eysuvis, Inveltys, Rocklatan, Rhopressa)Assist in the development of the strategic pricing recommendations with Sr. Director of strategic pricing and contractingOversee relationships with national and regional payers, managed care organizations, including group purchasing organization, and integrated delivery networks, where appropriate to align with brand strategyEstablish and manage payer dashboard to monitor and track sales performance and inform pull-through goalsContinually assess contract performance and demonstrates a strong understanding of pricing implications and downstream impact of the evolving public policy, government, regulatory landscape, and other relevant trendsEnhance the functional capabilities and provide strategic leadership to ensure broad access across all channels by effectively managing value proposition through pricing and/or select contractingWork collaboratively with marketing, field sales and trade team to implement access strategies and tactics, including formulary pull-throughProvide market landscape insights on customer business trends, competitive updates and industry issues and opportunitiesDemonstrate leadership and direction to maximize business opportunities and work collaboratively with other key functions to address customer needsEmbrace an entrepreneurial spirit for an emerging pharmaceutical division - high change-agility and comfort with job role-fluidityRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:BA or BS degree (MBA, PharmD or advanced degree a plus)15 + years of progressive experience in pharmaceuticals, including managed markets roles in account management, formulary access, reimbursement, distribution, program development, contract negotiations and policy developmentSignificant experience with national and regional direct account management with responsibility across multiple channel customer typesProven long-term relationships with 3rd party payers (commercial / government payers), distribution, GPOs, physician networks, and healthcare systemsDemonstrated leadership, team building and organizational skills; track record of success in leading and building strategic account teamStrong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to translate business goals into specific objectives - experience utilizing secondary data: syndicated sales data by customer channel, claims data, and payer-level dataAnalyzes and understands market dynamics in the evolving healthcare and regulatory environment and uses data to anticipate and communicate the impact of changes on the market with internal/external stakeholdersStrong communication skills and ability to influence and align at all levels of the organizationStrong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory/legal environment with knowledge of compliance requirements for appropriate interactions and relationships with healthcare professionalsExtensive proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook)Travel requirement: Approximately 50% including overnights
