The Role
The SMA business within Lord Abbett is growing and we are seeking a unique individual to join as the Head of SMA Personal Account Management. The SMA Personal Account Management Team is a vertically integrated service and operations team, entirely focused on providing a personalized SMA client experience. A truly personalized SMA client experience requires the SMA personal account management team to interact both with clients and with internal teams and systems to ensure accounts are incepted and continuously managed in line with customized client expectations and preferences. As the Head of SMA Personal Account Management, you will have a unique opportunity to not only support a growing and thriving SMA business but also be empowered to play a key role in developing our future state operating model focused on building a platform that enables personalization at scale. You will play an integral role in collaborating with our client facing teams, investment professionals, operations and technology teams, as well as strategic partners to ensure a best-in class client experience for the high & ultra-high net worth client segment.
We’ll trust you to:
Develop, implement and execute a strategy to deliver a personalized client experience at scale.Lead a team that successfully delivers best-in-class client service through the management and oversight of the account customization process.Develop relationships with internal stakeholders across client services, investments, technology, operations and control functions (legal, risk, compliance) in order to drive better collaboration, efficiencies and outcomesHave established relationships with centers of influence at our sponsor firms, ensuring that our operation model is not just executed but also understood and felt by our clientsProactively identify opportunities for improvement by observing trends, leveraging data and experience.Enhance the business management of the SMA platform by improving data transparency while installing processes for scale. Manage risk by overseeing daily functions and implementation of proper processes and controls.Govern and embed middle office service provider(s) across the platform.Collaborate with Technology to automate and innovate the platform infrastructure. Provide leadership in coordinating new sponsor / RIA relationships and on-boarding process.Oversee activity for new account restrictions, in-kind transfers, state preference codification, strategy changes and working closely with our service providers and Investment professionals to resolve any issues.Demonstrate industry leadership through excellent working relationships with Sponsor teams and industry peer groups. Contribute to the strategic direction, design, and implementation of the operating model to support the next phase of growth in the SMA business.
You'll need to have:
Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in the investment industry specifically SMA / wrap programsKnowledge and experience of Security APL applicationStrong leadership skillsAbility to effectively interact with clients, and train professionals to do the sameAbility to prioritize multiple tasks, while meeting deadlinesApply an ownership mindsetExcellent organizational and follow-up skills, and outstanding attention to detailStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsSolutions oriented and inspired by continuous improvementCustomer-focused; professional attitude; good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsWork independently and collaboratively within the teamMicrosoft Office Suite including Excel to run data analysis and utilize pivot tables; PowerPoint for key project and reporting to management.Bachelor’s degree-Accounting or Finance preferred.

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $200,000 - $250,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
