Job Title: Head of Site Automation - Execution Systems
Location: Lengnau, Switzerland

How will you make an impact?
As Head of Site Automation - Execution Systems (ES), you will lead and oversee all activities and operations associated with the related systems and software. This includes Process Automation & Manufacturing Execution System, Clean Utilities Automation (CUA), Building Management System (BMS), Data Historian and Process Analytical Technology (PAT) systems, Computerized System Validation (CSV) and the overall systems architecture.
What will you do?
Responsible for executing Execution Systems (ES - Automation) process automation strategy and master plan.Define the automation strategy of the site to move into Industry 4.0 standardsProvide leadership and guidance on the Site expansion on-going investmentsBe an active member of the Engineering Leadership Team and define the site engineering strategyProvide technical expertise for the design, configuration, installation, and maintenance of automation software and associated hardwareProvide technical leadership in complex problem-solving and decision-making, collaborates with and influences business partners with a focus on driving and implementing innovative, execution systems solutionsAct as the overall process owner for ES process automation, MES, and data system solutions, which includes PCS7, OpCenter, OSI PI, Laboratory systems to provide day-to-day support of the systemsDevelop a sustainable support model that provides the appropriate service level to Manufacturing & other partners to minimize manufacturing interruptionsAct as the overall systems owner for Execution Systems (Siemens PCS7, TIA Portal, MES Opcenter, OSI PI, etc.)Develop a sustainable support model that provides the appropriate service level to Manufacturing & other partners to minimize manufacturing interruptionsDevelops a strategy to maintain & supervise key performance indicators for the departmentAdvises investigations into process or equipment failures and implements automation changesDrives and implements detailed quality standards for all aspects of the ES department delivery
Technical Responsibilities
Participate in the creation and implementation of Execution Systems and Lengnau Site Strategies that are aligned with corporate business strategy and develop strategic application roadmaps to support the strategic direction.Lead on-going operations for the functional area, compile key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of Execution Systems processes and improve daily operations and project delivery and ensure that an inventory of company software and systems assets is maintained.Responsible for the application teams training program and compliance with the appropriate regulatory guidelines, global & local QMS (Quality Management System) and CIS policies and procedures. Drive resolution of audit findings within agreed timelines.
Resource/Matrix Management
Responsible for overall resource management including assigning resources to project and operation activities based on Lengnau Projects & Site Operations Portfolio. Specific employee related activities include, talent acquisition, training, career development, providing coaching, performance management (IPM) and compensation. Additionally, as a result of the matrix environment, may support resources from other functional areas.
Business Interface/Understanding
Responsible for ensuring an understanding of the business processes within the application team, working with the business (typically mid-level management) to identify opportunities and develop the appropriate business case/demand within the plant process
Project Management
Perform Project Manager role on an interim basis.Ensuring that project activities are completed within budget and on schedule and in accordance with the project management methodology as defined in QMS.
Technical Knowledge
Propose and assess design solutions based on a working knowledge of current technologies and best practices related to the functional application area. Evaluate vendor technology and consider industry trends and future requirements as defined in the application roadmap.Participate, as assigned, in the management of specific cost centers, contribute to the annual budgeting process (OPEX and CAPEX), provide periodic forecasts and manage expenses.
Vendor Management
Participate in managing the vendor relationship process (including selection, negotiation, establishing service level agreements (SLAs), monitoring and reviewing performance and contract management) for key Execution Systems & CIS vendors.
Application Responsibility
Administer the management of and full SDLC of the following Execution Systems Applications:Process Control System (PCS), Clean Utilities Automation (CUA), Facility Monitoring System (FMS), Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and related interfaces (SAP, Package Units, LIMS...).
Quality
Ensure implementation of and adherence to current GMP rules, Quality policies, procedures and instructions for his/her area of responsibility.
EHSS
Ensure implementation of and adherence to EHSS legal requirements, rules, policies, procedures and instructions for his/her area of responsibility.
How will you get here?
Education:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or equivalent experience; educational concentration in IT and/or Automation, science or engineering is preferred.Master's degree is preferred.
Experience:
Proven experience working within an applicable Automation/MES function that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 5+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience.Team ManagementProject ManagementVendor ManagementSDLC ManagementProven expertise in Process Control or Distributed Control Systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems in Life Science GMP environmentComputer literacy with Microsoft Office products
