The Relationship Manager is a member of the Institutional Business within the Europe and Asia Client Group. The incumbent is responsible for representing Capital's investment services while building and maintaining high quality relationships with clients and prospects across the Greater China region. This role is based in Hong Kong and reports into the Head of Client Group, Hong Kong & Greater China. There will be close working relationships with the Singapore-based and key European IB sales teams, as well as global consultant relations teams.
Major Responsibilities
• Introduce Capital Group, generate new prospecting meetings, and build meaningful new client relationships across the Greater China region including generating new business from existing clients. Build multi-faceted and multi-level client relationships.
• Accurately and effectively articulate Capital Group's investment services, investment philosophy with clients. Develop a broad understanding of both the research and portfolio management process.
• Create and execute effective holistic sales strategy and account plans for Hong Kong & Greater China markets. Work together with Client Group Head and Europe & Asia Institutional Head to formulate.
• Work with and through client servicing team that will be responsible for on-boarding clients and ongoing portfolio reviews.
• Effectively work with Business Development Associate, Client Relations Associate, and Institutional Marketing Manager in a client-centric, team environment.
• Accurately articulate prospects' needs/concerns/issues to the supporting teams based in Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe, or the US (e.g. investment specialists, results team, marketing, fees, L&C), so that they can help with generating appropriate information and analysis to facilitate prospecting activities
• Collaborate closely with other Relationship Managers, Consultant Relations professionals, Investment Specialists, and marketing and client service staff to leverage global efforts and share best practice.
Ideal Experience
• 10-15 years of experience in institutional relationship management with proven track record in business development, client relationship development, and sales success.
• Deep knowledge of Hong Kong & Greater China markets and experience working with major institutional investors, such as SWFs, central banks, government related entities, public pensions, endowments and insurance companies.
• Affinity with capital markets, investments, and macroeconomics. Strong technical skills and the ability to discuss financial topics with senior and technical clients without the assistance of a portfolio manager.
• Self-motivated, setting ambitious goals for him/herself, and a drive to make progress. Intrinsically motivated by developing new relationships, uncovering opportunities, and winning new business.
• Experienced in communicating persuasive, client-centric, and well-structured messages in written and presentation format.
• Ability to travel 1/3 of the time.
• BA/BS required; MBA and or CFA designation a plus
• History of operating effectively within a successful, team-oriented investment organization catering to institutional clients. Collaborative approach and willing to listen to others to take their input to improve the overall output.

• Business Development and Relationship Management: Successful track record of developing and nurturing significant institutional client relationships that lead to long-term, measured asset growth. Have a consultative approach thinking about client needs and solutions instead of pushing products.
• Communications: Strong presentation and communication skills in both English and Chinese (both written and verbal) for external and internal purposes. Strength at articulating a product strategy, an investment process, performance, and organizational background. An interpersonal style that engenders trust and credibility.
• Collaboration and Team Orientation: Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with other sales and client service professionals across Institutional and Financial Intermediary business. Instincts around partnering with colleagues to build broader relationships with clients, prospects, and other constituencies such as consultants.

• Strong intellectual capacity and interest in investments. Passion for the markets and a demonstrated ability to describe key characteristics investment portfolios without the assistance of investment group and manage client questions effectively within Capital.

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
